Konstsmide

So, in this project we made an addition to a already existing website / company. The company is working with light designs, and they have smart lights already, but we wanted to make it possible to use smart lights in christmas lights as well, since here in Sweden in winter it's really cold and dark, so we wanted people to be able to light up thier houses with the help of an application instead of going around and turning on all the christmas lights one at a time or using one of those old timers that you have to buy separately from the lights themselves. So we designed an application to be able to turn on and off the lights in the palm of your hand, and also added another tab to their existing website where they would sell smart christmas lights.

Programs used in this project was Figma, for the wireframing etc. and also a little bit of photoshop to fix some of the pictures. We also worked in Miro when we worked with Business Model Canvas.

My role in this project was designing the prototype in Figma together with two other people.

We started this project by doing research about Konstsmide, what products they currently have, what their plans are for the future etc. We then went on to do a Business model canvas to get an even better picture of what the company looks like, what their customer base is and so on.

After that we made a SWOT-analysis to figure out what the strenghts, weaknesses, opportunities and threats could look like.

After doing the SWOT-analysis we went on to a Lean business model canvas, or LBMC, to get a picture of how introducing our planned product idea into Konstsmide would be like.

And then after getting a better picuture, we looked at some competitors that were already selling the same product, and the conclusion we got from that was that it was a small and kind of full market already, but it could be doable since our product stands out by being the only one that is Christmas Lights as well, not only regular smart lights.

We then when quickly moved on to high-fidelity, since the website was already made, we only had to do high fidelity on that one. Konstsmide already had an application for Smartlight use, but it didn´t feel up-to-date enough so we redid it with our own buttons and picutres etc. We didnt do any low/mid fidelity.

End Results:

We finished up the project with a presentation, and the result was a goodlooking design, and we were happy with the looks of the product. I think that it would be a nice addition to Konstsmide, and I feel like it would be wise for Konstsmide to look into a solution for Christmas Lights since there isn´t any products out yet on the market, I think it would be a best-seller on the run up to Christmas, especially these days when electricity prices are on the up.
